Brendan Monger

Brendan is a tertiary trained performer, having gained a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), and has been working professionally in the Arts industry for over 38 years as an actor, singer, composer, director, musical director, writer, and vocal arranger - with his career spanning stage, television, cabaret, radio and film as well as playing both the piano bar and club circuit.

He's written original scores for stage, screen and radio, and worked as resident Director / Musical Director for various theatre companies around Australia.

He is a highly skilled musician, composer and vocal arranger who has gigged all over Australia in various genres (piano bars, musical theatre, jazz clubs, R & B) as well as working professionally as an actor in both plays and musicals for companies such as the Sydney Theatre Company, the Melbourne Theatre Company, Gordon Frost, Rattling Tongues and the Australian Shakespeare Company.

He has also taught and directed in major institutions all around Australia, including: The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), The Actors College of Theatre and Television (ACTT), National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), The Sydney Conservatorium of Music and The Actors Centre Australia.

In 1997 he founded, performed with, and wrote the vocal / musical arrangements for the popular Sydney jazz vocal group “Vocal Design".

In 2003, he created The Performance Studio with his wife, Yvette (who is also a professional Actor / Director). The Performance Studio has now become a well-established, leading performing arts school in Western Sydney with a mission to develop and enrich the lives of children through the Arts.

During the past 22 years, they have written and produced over 40 productions – ranging from Theatrical Stage Shows to Outdoor Performances to Children’s Television Series.
